A wall tone that needs to echo the depth of a natural stone floor. A soft neutral that must sit precisely between two materials. A decorative finish that has to carry the same atmosphere as a fabric, a façade element or a bespoke piece of joinery. With BOSS finishes, colour becomes a service. Not simply selected, but studied, refined and translated into the right paint or finish.
Our colour specialists and laboratory team work with advanced colour technology, extensive paint expertise and a trained eye for nuance. Through the MY-MX mixing system, thousands of shades are already within reach. When a project requires something more specific, we look further with spectrophotometer readings, comparative colour searches, manual formulation or controlled production.
Colour precision is never one-size-fits-all. Below, we outline the possibilities, from practical colour matching to bespoke formulation and controlled production.
When you bring us a physical reference, we help you find the closest matching colour from our plain colour collections.
This can be useful when a paint colour needs to connect with existing or selected materials: curtains, upholstery, flooring, stone, wood, kitchen fronts or bespoke furniture. Based on your sample, our colour specialists compare the reference with our colour fans and define the most suitable match.
You receive the colour code of the matching shade, ready to use as a practical starting point for the project. A fast and elegant solution when the aim is harmony, not full custom formulation.

Decorative finishes have their own depth, texture and movement. Their colour perception is shaped by material, structure, light and application. That is why a plain paint colour will never behave in exactly the same way as a textured finish.
Still, there are moments when you need a matching plain colour to sit alongside a decorative technique. For example, to connect a feature wall with surrounding surfaces, or to create a calm transition between different materials in the same space. For selected BOSS finishes techniques, matching colours are available as a reference. Where needed, our specialists can advise on how close the result can be, and what to take into account before making a final decision.

Need a closer match?
For flat, even colour samples, our laboratory can read the colour with a professional spectrophotometer. This allows us to translate a physical colour reference into an existing colour code.
This method works best with plain samples, without texture or print. When the reference is a material such as fabric, tile, flooring or a kitchen front, we first look for a comparable plain colour. That colour can then be read and translated into a usable formula.

For projects with high aesthetic demands, our laboratory can search for or formulate a colour manually. This is where colour becomes a more precise, project-specific process.
Our specialists add colour pastes by hand to the selected paint or decorative finish, paint out the result and refine it where needed. Bespoke formulation is especially valuable when one colour needs to connect different surfaces, products or finishes within the same interior.

In some cases, a colour cannot be made through the MY-MX mixing system. In others, the project requires additional control over colour accuracy.
For these situations, selected paints or decorative finishes can be produced in a specific colour through close collaboration between the colour laboratory and the production team. This controlled process is suited to demanding projects where technical feasibility, consistency and colour performance need to be carefully assessed.
